during the great GT famine of Feb 2004, a coupla of us managed to get a mini GT conference goin on MSN and somewhat the topic came up again...

long distance r'ships...
can only just remember vaguely what we talked about, but the main thing brought up was:

1) long distance relationships suck and dun last

2) relationships started long distance last...

whaddya think?

Depends on the kind of relationship you're talking about.

Well i had a kind of long range relationship once, we were only a few hundred miles apart but it was difficult in my poor student state to go and visit her. Cut a long story short, we broke up.

I am in a long term relationship now. It sucks so bad being away from someone you love for such a long time. It is hard on your heart. But when you finally get ot see them again it makes the distance all worth while i guess. Ah, man i didn't wanna think about missing my girl this early in the morning :(

I personally don't think it can work.

It depends on the timeframe we're talking about though.

If you have to be seperated for a month I can see it working out ok but when we're talking about something like 4-6 months or more I'd say the chances are as good as 0.

LOL!!
and don't forget flexible too. It would have to bend a lot.

Yes I think it can work...for a while. Depends on what kind of base you started with, how long you have to be separated, and where you live. Around here americans can pull off successful long distance relationships with latin americans, but it never works with canadians. Maybe it gets too cold up there for your exposed penis, I dunno.

girlfriend's in france for the semester...im stuck here on long island...but we're gettin through it. for the 3 semesters before this one, she was 6 hours away at school in DC....got through all that too. it's my experience that in most cases long-distance relationships don't work out, but those are usually the ones that wouldn't work out anyway.

Never been in one myself, but from what I've seen, most of 'em don't last. One guy I knew, his girlfriend moved to the Middle East for a year and a half (she knew she would be coming back in a year and a half), and she ended up hooking up with somebody there and breaking up long distance. And then, when she came back, she wanted to get back togeather with him, but he couldn't trust her, or couldn't forgive him, or something like that.

And damn, makes me feel bad that I went to bed before this discussion started!
