  I Have A Dream

I have a dream that haunts my waking hours.
A dream of beauty, boundless and yet subtle,
And eyes that see through my golden words,
See through to the tin man behind it all.

I have a dream of olive skin and simplicity,
Who tries to hide her beauty but fails magnificently,
And all the while she’s been searching for me,
But never really knew it.

I have a dream of eyes as green as the waters of the Gulf,
And a body more supple than any cradle of civilization,
Of a tongue that comes from foreign lands like Portugal or Brazil,
Of a love that seems so unlikely.

I have a dream of a quiet intelligence that yearns for substance
Instead of empty hearts and pretty faces.

Deer in the Headlights ([redacted]'s Poem)

If a picture’s worth a thousand words
Then yours is worth a thousand praises
Maybe because that’s what you deserve,
A thousand worshippers with adoring faces,

And you look at me with those charcoal eyes,
That burn the camera lens and I
wonder just how I managed to find
You through all the cable wires.

You seem to be asking a question
But I don’t know just what you need
Maybe someday you’ll come to the decision
That what you need is me.

Until then I can dream about what you’re thinking,
Is it about the man that you will marry or trying not to blink?

  The Art of Falling

The pebble falls, bounces off the rocky cliffs
And lands in the sea below with a splash,
As the waves lick the shore like some lustful lover,
Unclothed, undercover.
In the distance the sun melts into the horizon,
Quenched by the salt water and I stare at the picture
I’m clutching in my shaking hands.
Brittled by tears and forgotten plans.
I breathe a heavy sigh while I run my hand
Over the ridges and wrinkles that cover
Our Technicolor faces. We were happy then, and faithful.
At least I was.
So I say my goodbyes and I walk away
As the picture twirls and twists in the sea air, falling
Toward its salty home. The memories come to mind,
And remain as constant as the tide.

Is that a reference to Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or is your name actually Susan?

Fook! It was Snatch I was thinking of, not Lock Stock. Damn you Guy Ritchie and your kick-ass but similar films.
