I know this is dumb, but I've just discovered tomatoes cook in my omelette and I oh so love it.

What other things do you guys put into your omelette?

cilantro is sooo disgusting... it takes like metal to me. i can't even believe you would eat that in an omelette, but to each his own. :)

when i'm not busy knocking cilantro, i'm busy adding peppers and onions and mushrooms. and chives and spring onions. a little swiss melted on top never hurts.

lol
what kind of metal? It makes a diffence you know. I mean if you add a little soy sause to Iron it's quite tastey.

a crazy combination of silver and stainless steel, as those are the only ones i've ever tasted (due to their unfortunate presence in most eating utensils). (chopsticks are so the better alternative.)

and since you're requesting specifics, what kind of egg, huh? goose? ostrich? hen? work with me here. geez.

;o)

i like ham, cheese (any kind), canadian bacon, taco seasoning, green peppers, onions, steamed rice, soy sauce, tomato sauce (a.k.a. ketchup), pepper, hamburger, shrimp...

that's about it. those are in no particular order, and not all of them are thrown into one omelette.

If you have access to an omellette that usually means you have access to pancakes, maybe even BLUEBERRY pancakes, always go for la flapjacks.

Not trying to steal the thread, but for those who aren't omlette fans, what's an odd concoction that you recognize as food?

I really like chili with a huge pile of melted cheese to make it thick.

Tostitos salsa con queso mixed with taco meat and refried beans (if available). Really, it's just the cheese mixed with whatever's salvagable from taco/burrito night's leftovers.

Both of those are dips for chips.

  quick drive-by-fruiting

We dont really call it omelette here unless it has cheese. So mine isnt technically an omelette according to mexican standards.

But I udually add

Tomato, onion, serrano chili pepper, cilantro and ham.

yummyyyyyyyyy

Or mushroom, ham, onion and parsley.

  1. separate whites and yolks
2. whip them whites till nice and lightly frothy
3. whip up them yolks till pale yellow - then mix in whatever condiments, herbs etc ya wannas
4. very gently fold in whites with yolks
5. whatever ya wanna put into the ommmeellletttie sautee on a hot pan with very little oil first, once done - remove
6. add in half of the egg mix over very slow flame0
7. as it starts to firm slightly throw on your omellete innards, if you want cheese, add last
8. add the other half and as it starts to firm, very carefully flip it over - trick here is if you're not confident with the flip, use 2 pans
9. do not overcook... if unsure, stick a skewer through it and if it comes out nice and moist without being overly sticky it's done - usually about 10 mins

antartica Posted: Tue Mar 1 21:35:11 2005 Post | Quote in Reply
forgot to mention, if you want it a little richer in taste add some cream or milk into your yolk mix, not too much though... mebbe juz a slight splash for 2 eggs

I don't eat omelettes very often, but when I do I just eat them however the person making them usually makes them.
I don't eat in the morning unless people make me food.

Good point, again I only eat them when some one else is cooking.
>I eat them for lunch and dinner too!!!
I'm not big on eggs, I prefer actual meat to, umm... premeat. Okay, I confused myself.
