I Just Don't CareBear
addi Posted: Thu Oct 6 11:23:11 2005 Post | Quote in Reply
Your list of things of little or no interest to you personally, that you know millions of other people do care about and/or want:

(Important note: these aren't meant to be judgements against those that DO like the things you list. It's nothing more than your personal tastes)

1. country music
2. owning a SUV
3. living in a 5 bedroom 3 bathroom house in the suburbs
4. professional football, baseball, hockey, basketball
5. watching soaps on TV
6. female pop stars
7. gambling
8. People magazine
9. playing golf
10. horror movies
11. car racing
12. video games
13. MTV
14. hunting animals with a gun
15. blow jobs
16. texas hold'em poker
17. what gay men are doing
18. perfectly manicured lawn
19. beauty pagents
20. going to church
21. garage sales
22. the size of a woman's breasts
23. the Pope
24. latest fads in mens clothes
25. partying on New Years Eve
26. owning a cell phone
27. the Super Bowl
28. a dark suntan
29. most modern abstract art
30. watching any live concert at a mega-stadium

(things we don't care about define us as much as what we do care about)

your lists?

Oh, I have so many things I hate/don't care for/would like to see destroyed. LOL, but whenever I try to think of a list for something my mind draws a blank. But her are the ones that DO come to mind.

1. Religion

2. Being excessively wealthy(I want to make enough that I can provide a comfortable life for my family, I don't care about living the high life, though.)

3. The latests scene, fashion, trend, whatever. Its all dictated by corporations, and youth just eat it up. Whatever they say is in style *poof*, people orgasm over it and rush out to spend gross amounts of money buying that shit. (Don't take this to mean I walk around dressed like a bum all the time. I still like to dress in what I consider to be nice clothes, if I like how I look in them. But I don't care what brand it is, if it is the current "style" or anything like that.)

4. Wanting laws that fit my narrow world view to be enacted, and all laws not in accordance with my world view to be repealed.

5. Sports. I enjoy an occasional game of football(soccer), but I don't become a fanatic for specific teams and obsess over the game. Just think, if the concern and energy and enthusiasm that people put into supporting their favourite sports team was instead put into something, like oh I don't know, politics, or something that actually would make a difference. But no, the powers that be prefer you to remain distracted with inconsequential sporting events and other entertainment. Keep the people stupid, and you can do what you wish to them. I've met so many people who can tell you anything about their fav. team/sport/player, but you mention a current event or some big political issue, and they stare at you like a deer in headlights. Flood their minds with nonsense, they won't see the light.

6. Celebrity gossip. I don't give two shits what some rich spoiled piece of shit does, and I can't see the fascination with it. Honestly, so many people scrutinize celebrities lives, but than don't give one damn about what is REALLY going on in their country and the world around them. Again, keep the people distracted and stupid.

7. What other people think of me. Thats an easy one to explain. Fuck people, thats the explanation. Who is anyone? Who is ANYONE that I should care what they think? They're just another piece of shit like me or anyone else.

8. Rap. I admit to liking a few songs, but overall I hate hate hate it.

9. Video games. Thats not to say I've NEVER played them, or will NEVER play them again. But I very, very rarely play them, and don't see the appeal of sitting down for six hours a day playing them.

10. Crystal Meth. Why so many people do it? What a horrible drug.

11. McDonalds. They taste like shit. I only eat there when I want food that tastes like shit, and that doesn't happen very often.

12. Staying in your hometown your whole life. That would drive me crazy. There is a whole world out there to see, so many different people to meet, and cultures to experience. The same streets, the same faces, the same routine, for your whole life. I just don't see how that could be desirable.

Thats it for now.

But here is a good shirt. http://www.thoseshirts.com/checap.html

Also, smokers rights. You all know about my smoking(I quit in July, by the way. Don't think I've mentioned it.) I mean come on, why should non-smokers have to be in a room full of cigarette smoke that hurts their eyes, makes them smell like shit, and is bad for their health?   About the Happy Birthday singing......I really hate it when I am in a restauraunt peacefully enjoying my meal, when it is suddenly iterrupted by the din of employees singing their stupid asshole custom made birthday songs and clapping. And then they want everyone in the restauraunt to join in....well hey, fuck you. I don't know that person and I don't care that it is their birthday, but I do care about not hearing the shrill of 2 dozen people trying to "sing" when I am eating.

Smokers rights as in them thinking they should be able to smoke anywhere, anytime. Like on public transit, in public and government buildings, etc. As for private property, it should be up to the owner if they want to allow it or not, and people can choose not to go to a bar or whatever if its full of smokers. I was against the city provision(which passed, bah) earlier this year that aimed to ban smoking in all bars, clubs, restauruants, and live venues.

i applaud you have quitted on smoking, i'm still trying hard to quit here.. though i'm seeing some progress..

talking about smokers right.. our govt here is going to ban smoking in pubs.. what a spoilsport! and in one of the discussion forum, a guy was heard saying " then can i open a bar solely for smokers? and stop non-smokers from entering? " how come smokers can't have this right? it scares me just thinking how this world is becoming like a huge lab.

Part of that provision was also you cannot smoke within 15 feet of a doorway, either. And in the downtown district, the doors to places are less than 15 ft apart in most places, and 15 ft straight out from the door puts you in the middle of the street. So basically, no smoking in the downtown district at all now.

About this whole smoker's rights thing...

I don't think they should have any rights. That's like giving someone the right to slowly kill other people.

I'm not trying to offend smokers here on the forum, I'm just thinking about all the people in the world that have sort of gotten used to injuring their lungs with second hand smoke when they go places as if it's something that you just have to get used to in life.

Why should non-smokers miss out on going to a bar/club/whatever because there might be people smoking? And why should we have to risk our health going into a place where people are smoking?

beetlebum Posted: Fri Oct 7 01:47:09 2005 Post | Quote in Reply
Smoking... sometimes I think, well, if it's slowly killing the people around you, should parents who smoke be allowed to keep their children?

If adults have decided that it is bad for them/death-causing, I don't see why the tolerance for parent smokers is so high, except for the very fact that no Social Services system could cope with it. So basically its acceptance by default- you're not killin your kid now, but he'll feel the affects later.

Nice.

I noticed something after reading all these...

I origonally meant it just as a list of things that we're not interested in, but we see so many other people passionate about. It morphed into another "things that really piss me off" thread.
Maybe there's a strong connection between things we don't have an interest in and things that tick us off about other people.

I dunnow, you don't always have to go for the troath.

Also, not all girls are against it, some get turned on by it just as well it seems.

I don't mind giving head to a gf either, so it works both ways, you could say a guy doesn't get anything out of that either, but I do find it "stimulating" as well ;o)

I beg to differ on this one, but not because I am a smoker, since I can take it or leave it whenever I please. So far I've gone 3 weeks without a puff and feel fine...

My reasoning is the following.

I dont own a car. Cars pollute. So why should car owners have the right to pollute the air I breathe? Car smoke is everywhere, and in much larger quantities than cigarrette smoke, and has as many pollutants, if not more, than second-hand cigarrette smoke.

So I say, if they take away rights for people who smoke, I say take away the right of people to own a car. Both pollute. The difference here is I cant go ANYWHERE without having to inhale car fumes, whilst non-smokers can choose not to attend a certain place if there are smokers there.

Hope I made my point.
