Check out the MyGT post by onemoretime (or shi wo xie de).

I thought it was very thought provoking.

  I liked that...

anthropology has led me to think about love and attraction as far as humans go, and as much of a romantic and love-oriented person I am, i realize that it can all boil down to evolutionary necessities...some people think that that makes love seem less important. But I don't think it has to be...it just shows us how well evolution works, how strong it is to create something so strong within us...

I'm definitely addicted...

of course the polite thing would have been to ask onemoretime first before I made a thread out of it.

Too late now. Sorry
Hope you're cool with that.

Reminded me of a discussion I had with someone recently about AI's.

If and when we develope artificially intelligent robots/androids, could they experience romantic love, as humans do, when they would be practically immortal, and need nothing more than a good mechanic to reproduce?

I still think it's dangerous to be completely objective, or completely neutral, about anything. Like being 'fair' instead of 'just.' So I don't mind believing (or pretending) that love is something a bit more special than a mere chemical reaction.

Has anyone seen What the Bleep Do We Know? It says the exact same thing.

I always reach the exact same conclusion: our brain is smarter than we are, if that makes sense. Love is nothing but a physiological reaction but we trick ourselves into believing it's real and magical, because if we didn't, we'd have to live with the idea that love as a beautiful ideal simply doesn't exist the way we want it to.

Fortunately, I have no problem deluding myself. :D

: )

thinking too much about the above statement can really blow your mind.
Personaly, I think I'm much smarter than my brain.

I'm with you on that. I don't give a hoot if it's only a series of chemical reactions. I just know I like love and the way it makes me feel...

...most of the time. Sometimes love really bites the big one.
