mister maroon's ambient dancey mix v.12012006
iggy Posted: Sat Jan 14 04:18:54 2006 Post | Quote in Reply
when i first started dabbling in the genre of dance music, orbital and leftfield were the first few albums that i've bought and i've been blown away from the first day.
so for my first mix of the year, i've decided to do a tribute mix for these two legends of dance music.

i hope that you enjoy this mix as much as i did when i first heard them, and still loving these tracks today.

xoxo
mister maroon

tracklist
1. one perfect sunrise (mistermaroon's shaken&stirred mix) by orbital
2. space march by leftfield
3. planet of the phatbird by fatboy slim x leftfield
4. beached by orbital
5. hackers theme (mistermaroon's beach paradise mix) by orbital

thank you once again for providing me with some great driving down the road in my car music.
I know it all comes down to personal taste, but I like this much more than than typical techno bam bam bam constant beat stuff. This has "soul" to it...for lack of a proper way to express it.

Thanks. Good stuff, chan

*your latin mix is my most played CD now

When I first started listening to electronic music I was into trance as well, but from there on I moved to house->retro->dance->groove->techno

I can't help it, but I never really liked orbital.

I think it is because of the breakbeats.

But apart from my personal preferences, I think that for most people this should be enjoyable and inviting to get to know the type of music a little better ;o)

If they're not too old like addi, that is.

We don't want anybody getting kicked out of clubs because of their senior citizenship now do we.

Yeah, he is an old fucker isn't he ?
I can picture him now in a wheelchair with a blanket over his legs and a sheep in his lap screaming "this is my date mutherfucker, now let me in" !
:-)

Ahem...I prefer to call it "one who posesses life experience", not old : )

>We don't want anybody getting kicked out of clubs because of their senior citizenship now do we.

haha..such a clever witty young boy.

In all seriousness I do like almost every type of music, with the exception of most country and some rap stuff. I get into moods to listen to classic rock, alternative, metal, classical, pop, folk, world, latin, and jazz. I just find that after about 15 minutes of techno beat stuff, with the same drum beat being jammed into my ears it all starts sounding the same...but to each their own.
As you gain "more life experience" your music tastes will mature, Christophe, and you'll appreciate more where I'm coming from.
: )

It usually works too. Once I'm in I ditch the wheelchair and the sheep and start hitting on the teen girls.

i play anything and everything on my live sets... which is why my slot is called mister maroon wacks the decks.

i play any genre depending on my mood
techno/groove/house/trance/ambient/alternative
indie/metal/funk/soul/dub/drum and bass

=)

i'll probably do a techno mix soon

Really?

Where did you see him?

I've seen heard him play a few times during I Love Techno, but I wasn't too pleased with it since he failed the beatmatch nearly every single time and it was totally out of place compared to the other dj's. I think that once you get to that level you shouldn't be making mistakes anymore.

But perhaps he was having a few bad days.

>i'll probably do a techno mix soon

Be sure that you do :o)

  hm.

The list turned out to be longer than expected.

Also, it isn't purely techno, it is the folder of my current favourite techno and groove.

  hey chan
I was just sitting here doing work from home (fun!) and noticed that on the second track (it's hard to tell cuz they're all tied together) that they borrowed a portion of one of the James Bond movie themes. I was watching Thunderball this weekend and it was used in that movie. It's the part that goes "hmm...hmmm...hmm...hmmmmmm...hmmm.."
Humming is hard to do online
