Walter White, an international lawyer who specialises in human rights, told the BBC the Guantanamo camp was likely to be considered a "great stain" on the human rights record of the US.

Hell...this whole administration, including the congress, is a great stain on the human rights record of the US. A stain and an embarrassment.

*I see Zarkowi's death has really made a dent in the insurgent fighting over there. Just heard a news report that one morgue in bagdad has 6000 bodies in it....63 more were added this weekend, mostly comprised of bodies dumped on the outskirts of the city as a result of fighting between sunni and shia factions.
I do not gloat in this tragic situation...but the dittodumbheads that think one person's death is going to stop the killings over there are dilusional.

Watched Lewis Black's HBO special this weekend. I think he summed it up best when he asked,

"Is Bush FUCKING nuts?!"

I am not trying to undermine the discussion, so I'll just say: I believe Bush is crazy.

And also, Christophe, I love your avatar. One of the best paintings ever. Have you read any Foucault?

I like Magritte, and not because he's from Belgium ;o)

Besides the one featured in my avatar, there are 2 more of him that I absolutely adore:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Threshold_of_Liberty
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Son_of_Man

Those 2 send shivers up my spine, but in a good way

And no, I haven't read foucault yet, but "surveiller et punir: naissance de la prison" is on the list
