That's pretty dick and we know I'm not for the war in Iraq, but I can understand why they'd be that way. Streets of Baghdad aren't exactly the place I'd want to be caught up in traffic if I were in an HMMWV.

Yeah but that would exclude giggling as well if that had been the case

I'm aware that guys like those are an exception to the rule, but that 1 joyride has done more damage than those guys could ever make up for. All the people involved and those that they know probably shoved a bit more into the extremist camp

when we were at the airport one saturday, all the troops coming through the gate got a round of applause. most of them were stone-faced.

is it horrible of me that i often wonder who we're clapping for?

i mean... who REALLY are they... what are their stories, what're their families like...

what did they do while gone? what're they doing now back?

i dunno.

i really don't know.

No.
I'm guessing that some people just do it spontaneously..as a show of respect for them, not necessarily for the war they're fighting.

>what did they do while gone? what're they doing now back?

thoughtful things to wonder about.
The truth is that most of the soldiers you saw there will be home for awhile, and then be recalled for another tour of duty.
