Love sings like...

So, it's always been said that love is like a song... I guess that's kinda true because there are SO MANY love songs out there...

some good. some bad. seems to be a favorite topic in pop.

anyway, point is this:

What's your love sound like? Or what do you want it to sound like?

And I don't mean love as in love-making or familial love [i feel awkward putting both of those in the same sentence] but the you're-mine-and-i-am-yours-in-that-in-love-sorta-way type of love.

Here's mine [so far]:

I want a love that sings like...
Brand New Colony by the Postal Service.
Volcano by Damien Rice.
Brighter than Sunshine by Aqualung.
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
Farewell by Tan Dun.
Biomusicology by Ted Leo + Pharmacists
Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro by Utada Hikaru
Memory of Fanelia by Yoko Kanno
This Year's Love by David Gray

Looking over the list... i guess my love [to me] sounds like a whole lot of heartbreak, pain, some quaintness [is that even a word], a lot of inspiration and wordplay, passion, and a whole lot of love.

: D

  Good question!

My list (that somehow ended up in order from most to least serious):

Push - Sarah McLachlan
Where are you going - Dave Matthews Band
Take my Hand -Dido
Trust Me (This is Love) - Amanda Marshall
Love lift me - Amanda Marshall
Crash and Burn - Savage Garden
Dela (I Know Why The Dog Howls At The Moon) - Johnny Clegg & Savuka (so it's from the "George of the Jungle soundtrack... it's a good song ;p )

What I used to listen to and wish love would be like:

I Love you Always Forever - Donna Lewis
Maybe Tomorrow - Nouveaux

The heavens paint a silent symphony
As Orion shines for me
Are you there feeling the same as I
Whispering love songs to the lonely sky
And though I don't know where you are
I know you must be there
So for now I'll lay me down to sleep
and dream and maybe tomorrow
I'll kiss the air that covers you -
I'll watch the moonlight dance in your eyes
I'll hold you safely in my arms -
Maybe tomorrow you'll be mine...

A little sappy maybe but I was an angsty teenager at the time ;)

Alexei Murdoch - Song for You
Death Cab - Passenger Seat
Radiohead - Videotape

and I'm stealing:
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
David Gray - This Year's Love

It's hard to do this, cause most of the songs I associate with 'love' are actually about lost loves and broken hearts.

From the good old days:
'NSync - This I Promise You, God Must Have Spent..., etc.
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris, Slide

Another one on my list:

Grover Washington, Jr. - Just the Two of Us

http://warburrton.imeem.com/music/MIwNn2W8/just_the_two_of_us/

We look for love, no time for tears
Wasted water's all that is
And it don't make no flowers grow

Good things might come to those who wait
Not to those who wait too late
We got to go for all we know

Just the two of us
We can make it if we try
Just the two of us
Just the two of us
Building castles in the sky
Just the two of us
You and I...

* Ahhh, so hopelessly romantic.... *smile*
