One more reason to denounce the guy as a douchebag, although obviously this isn't his personal fault.

Still, I never understood why he got the nobel peace prize, if anybody can explain, by all means.

The second part of your sentence being an important point. They (the Nobel folks) gave it to him, not the other way around. So all the Gore bashers out there should direct there misplaced wrath at them and not on Gore...at least as far as winning the prize goes. In college football here college athletic departments will spend a lot of money on PR to promote their star player for winning the Heisman Trophy. If you can show me any evidence of that done by Gore to those voting on the Nobel prize then I'll eat crow.
He's fair game on any issue he actually has control over.

And the woman in the story was certainly deserving of some kind of award or recognition for her bravery, Nobel or otherwise. But she didn't put her life in extreme danger so that she could be nominated for a big award sometime in the future...she did it out of selfless caring for others. Winning or not winning the Nobel prize doesn't enhance or tarnish the great good she was able to accomplish in her life.

Isn't that a little like saying show me some evidence that Karl Rove outed Valerie Plame ?

All the more reason she was so much more deserving than Gore.
The Nobel peace prize has been greatly cheapened in the last few years with recipients like Yasser Arafat and such.

This isn't really about Gore, he may or may not have lobbied for it, but rather it's about who was more deserving.
What pray tell has Al Gore done to advance the cause of Peace in this world ?

No, not in the least. I don't even see any connection.

>All the more reason she was so much more deserving than Gore.

Did I argue anywhere above that he was more deserving than this lady?
No.
I said he was chosen, and he didn't promote himself to the Nobel voting commitee or slip them $$ under the table.
So, as I said be pissed at them for some of their past choices if you want, but don't rag on Gore for something he had zero control over.
Do you understand the shit he would have recieved internationally when they offered it to him if he responded, "No, I'm going to turn it down. There are other more deserving people out there."
I can see the headlines now:
"ELITIST GORE TOO GOOD FOR NOBEL".

Fire away about his stances on global warming (which I know you still think is all fabricated BS), or on any other policy you disagree with, but your venom towards him about the Nobel prize is misplaced.

Well, there is no evidence whatsoever that Rove outed Ms. Plame but you had him convicted from the outset.

There is no real evidence that Gore lobbied for this prize, but he did spend a week on Oslo the week before the prize was announced.
There is your connection.

I don't get it. Where do you see any venom in any of my posts on this thread towards Gore ?

C'mon Addi, get off your high liberal horse and have a go at another sheep.
You seem to be in need of it.
:-)

Rove, Libby, Cheney...they all knew about Plame and were involved in outing her. I can't believe you're digging this old shit up again.

"In his book, "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," McClellan said he was specifically lied to about White House staff members' involvement in the leaking of Plame Wilson's identity -- including Rove and Libby -- in 2003."

OJ wasn't convicted either, hif..that doesn't mean he was innocent of double murder.

It's a really really silly connection.
Gore held a public press meeting in October of 2007 to discuss notification that he was a CO-WINNER (shared it with UN scientists)of the award in California.
Gore accepts the award 2 months later in December of 2007 in Oslo.
Perhaps he was unsure they were really going to give it to him so he arrived a week early to do some last minute soliciting.

I was referring to the multitude of disparaging remarks you've made about Gore over the past years...not limiting it to this thread. However your thread title alone is an obvious negative towards him.
Listen good friend. I don't mean to be real nasty about all this, but when you call me out I will defend myself, so it doesn't look like I'm pulling made up shit out of nowhere. I try (not a 100% success rate) to back up my opinions expressed here based on facts and not wild heresay.
A very quick search of your thoughts on Gore came up with the following, and I could have included several dozen more...but it wasn't necessary.

ifihadahif said:
>Why believe anything Al Gore says?

ifihadahif said:
>The IPCC used it extensively and Al Gore relied heavily on it in his science fiction documovie Inconvenient Truth.

ifihadahif said:
>Michael Moore and Al Gore have both been found wanting in the fact department.

>The truth comes from many places, just never from Al Gore.

So I think any rational person can easily see you have "venomous" feelings toward the man...
...just as I have towards Bush, Rove, Cheney, Rice, etc..
: )

Relax old friend, have a valium.
I would never debase myself by saying anything nice about the Gore-acle, but this thread was never about him until you made it so.

Now now Addi, you killing the cat won't help this situation one tiny bit...

Someone told me a kitten dies everytime someone musturbates, so at this rate there won't be any kitties and cats left to cuddle in the future...
So be nice to your cat, sir. ;)

We have a saying like that here too, only it's Every time you watch midget porn a kitten dies. I suspect the cat population must be very low in certain parts of Belgiam : )

>So be nice to your puss, sir. ;)

I always am...boy scouts honor.
