  But seriously,

What is everyone up to this morning?

I'm sitting in my office, eating welsh cake and drinking tea, looking out at the park.

I'm waiting for you to meet me all the way here.

And for my pot of coffee to finish brewing. I'm useless until I have my first cup. Some say I'm useless after my first cup too though.

I'm concocting an elaborate plot to kidnap the local weatherman and hold him hostage until SOMEONE BRINGS ME SNOW!

These jerks tell us they can predict the weather in a hundred years and they can't get freakin' tomorrow right.

I'm working from home, because someone heard Kira's plea for snow but dumped it in the wrong place - in Philly. My car got stuck for the second time in the past 12 hours, so now I'm home, drinking hot tea, and researching the issues with vaccine production and plasma fractionation..

It's been snowing here too, no time off work though.

Will have to give you a new nick name of "Four Toes Tiff".

Try focusing on the positive. At least you haven't lost your virginity.

38 degrees celsius (yes, that's right, freakin' celsius) here. laying around in bed. too hot to move.

heard a story last night about a guy who put his finger in cigar clippers at a party, and someone closed them, and now he just has a stump. the guy said he wishes he could kept the finger, and mounted it in a little box on the wall with a plaque: "the one that got away."

oh, and someone totally owes me an email, so i looked for that.

Good...because having only 9 toes would make you a freak.
And for the record all toes are ugly, even the unstubbed ones. : )

Been hearing some scary things all the way up here about the heat, dryness, and fires down your way. : (

misszero Posted: Tue Feb 10 02:03:49 2009 Post | Quote in Reply
yeah, there's a confirmed 170 people dead in bushfires in Victoria. and that wasn't a typo, that was supposed to say 170. its pretty scary stuff, you know, people getting trapped in cars and things trying to evacuate too late and things like that. they're saying fires will be under control by the end of the week. its about 10 hours or so away from where i live, but its all over the news and the radio. worst fires in terms of loss of human life and property in a fair while. entire towns in country Victoria are being incinerated, from what i've heard...

misszero Posted: Tue Feb 10 02:06:20 2009 Post | Quote in Reply
oh, and there's also flood and far north queensland. climate change? what climate change? (although, to be fair, both flood and fire are a natural part of Australia's climate and eco-systems. there's a number of tree species that only seed after fire opens their pods and things like that. what complicates things is people, who aren't designed to cope like that.)

We've been watching on the news, fires on one hand and floods on the other, hope everything settles down soon :S

addi Posted: Tue Feb 10 07:41:25 2009 Post | Quote in Reply
  Tragic story.
One of the news headlines this morning was officials "re-evaluating their evacuation plans".
Ya think?
Sounds like the summer of extremes down under.

This place started going downhill right after Koff left us.

I've actually been wondering about hif myself. It's not like him to disappear for this long of a stretch. He and I communicate via email now and then and even that has stopped.

No need to worry folks, I'm back online FINALLY !
We had an incredible ice storm The night of Jan 27. It was 32 degrees fahrenheit and it rained all night. You could hear the trees popping and crashing. It sounded like explosions followed by the swoosh of a chandelier hitting the ground as the ice covered trees were crashin into the ground. If you looked out towards the horizon you could see the flashes coming from the exploding transformers all over town. It was like a really good acid trip. Kind of cool but terrible as well. The entire city was covered in solid ice and the temp didn't get above freezing for 4 days aftewards and we got 6 inches of snow on top of that.
Fucking global warming !
Six hundred thousand without power in the state and 150 thousand without power in my city.
Talk about the perfect storm !
I was without power for 5 days in sub freezing weather. Thank god I bought a generator when that fucking hurricane hit us last September.
They hooked up my power 5 days after the storm and got most everyone on the grid within ten days, but I didn't get my internet back until last night.
The city looks like a battle zone with piles of brush everywhere. Everyone's yards are coverd with branches and downed trees and power lines still on the ground in some places. You hear chainsaws and wood chippers all day and half the night now.
I slipped and fell two times on the ice. One of the falls bruised my bionic hip and was sore for a few days. Could have been worse I suppose.
The tree that took out my power lines laid across my driveway for a couple of days and I had to rely on neighbors to get gas for my generator. We have great neighbors here.
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Did I miss much while I was gone ?

What a cool story. I love ice storms.

I don't like the part where you got hurt, though. :( But glad you're back!

addi Posted: Wed Feb 18 07:34:28 2009 Post | Quote in Reply
Good to have you back, hif. I had heard news of the ice storm there, but never put 2 and 2 together. That kind of stupidity happens more and more as I get older.

  i miss you guys..
i am currently battling a cold that keeps getting worse instead of better.
i've been busy looking for a place to live and looking for new employment. i will be moving downtown very soon.
work has been a mess for the last 2 months. scandals here and there, and now my job is being outsourced to another country! weeeee.
i am currently supposed to be packing up my life, so of course i find this to be the most appropriate time to be doing the exact opposite. interwebbing time!

*here is something pretty for you:
