  1.Pulp- Bar Italia
(Will always remind me of a particularly lovely moment between me and someone after a long night out, walking home together as the sun came up)

2. Mayer Hawthorne- And i wish that it would rain
(A great song that's doing the rounds in my group of friends at the moment)

3.Thomas Truax- Audrey's theme
(Saw this guy last week, as well as his own stuff, he's also done an album of songs from the films of david Lynch, he also plays alone utilising his own inventions to play backing, brilliant set)

4. Marlena Shaw- California Soul
(I was probably listening to this last time i did one of these but i just love that song)

5. Nick Cave- all tomorrow's parties
(Love the Velvet Underground, love Nick Collins, love this grinding cover of the original)

Hahahaha, just noticed i called Nick Cave Nick Collins. Nick Collins is my friend from work, i love him too, but that's irrelevant for the purposes of this thread.

Note to self: You've been doing this for years now Mat, read before posting, read before posting!!

Right now I'm listening to my friend's dog tear around my living room chasing either a fly, his nub of a tail or trying in vain to entice someone to play with him...

Music wise I've been setting my itunes to that DJ feature, which, from what I can tell generates a random array of songs which really don't have much of a theme. I suppose that is what the genius feature is for.

Regardless: The Tope five in that current list:

1. The Mixed Tape - Jack's Mannequin
2. Is Anybody Home? - Our Lady Peace
3. I won't Back Down - Johnny Cash
4. Music of the Night - Phantom of the Opera
5. Remember the Name - Fort Minor

See. No real connection except they are all part of my music collection.

Off to get dressed, showered and find out if there is a bear on the deck again... Dog is going beserk.

Not that it matters.

I have an inordinate number of Johnny Cash songs on my mp3 player and so every third song it plays seems to be by him. I haven't the heart to delete any of them and I'm too lazy to make playlists.

Shortly after Michael Jackson died I got a collection of his greatest hits and have been listening to them in the car. I was positively bonkers for him around ages 9-12, all weirdness aside.

Swiped a bunch of my mother's Frank Sinatra recently, but I think it's all still in the computer.

You like the Pogues McHaggis?

Was showing a friend of mine the version of Good Rats by the Murphys where they wheel out an obviously soaked Shane MacGowan just the other day?

It's alright to admit that you have watched it at least 38 times since I posted that.

And here is one I detest. I loathe it. It makes me sick. So I am going to post it. Share in my agony.

I don't think I've ever been moved so deeply by a song's lyrics as I have with that one, Mesh.

Haha! Yeah. I played it at work. Not everyone is secure enough to admit they like it.

And I know they liked it.

My Brightest Diamond
New Radicals
Nick Drake
Lavender Diamond

When I find that I only like one album that an artist has made, unless they haven't made more than one, I don't like to say that I like that artist. I'll only say "I like Moby's 18." Or "I liked As Far As The Eye Can See from People In Planes."
Similarly, I don't want to say that I like The Cranberries because I'm just stuck on their hits and haven't made a full assessment of the rest of their discography. Or, "I liked Numbers & Mumbles and Discosadness from Say Hi To Your Mom, but I haven't heard anything good from them since, so feh."
Then there are bands that I'm just done kinda with but will still appreciate: Counting Crows, Toad The Wet Sprocket, VAST
