The indoctrination is nearly complete in Ottowa

Whether you like Ms. Coulter or not, this is shameful for a college campus.

So for Coulter, free speech means that she should be allowed to come speak at the campus, and that the students of the school should not be allowed to protest?

Funny, I thought free speech worked a little differently than that.

  Amen sister.

To me it means when somebody is a hate mongering fuckwit, decent people should be able to tell her where to go.

Protesting is fine, but she was not allowed to speak.
The ones who invited her there were not afforded the chance to hear her.
She was also told that she could be prosecuted for saying the very things that were shouted at her.

As far as her being a "hate mongering Fukwit", that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, be here in America we let everyone be heard. Even Ahmadinejad was allowed to speak on campus here.
That is how free speech works.

Coulter is a dangerous dumb cunt (pardon my bluntness, that fans the flames of the far right lunatics that are becoming more bold in the streets, and the halls of congress.
Ahmadinejad is a dangerous dumb cunt too. The ignorant verbal diarrhea that runs from his mouth needs no further explanation. The two deserve each other.

She's no more dangerous than Bill Maher or Keith Olberman, but that's not the point.
The point is, "free speech" means letting the opposition be heard. That is not what happened in Ottowa.
The left is always trying to silence the right. You certainly don't hear Rush or Hannity or Ms. Coulter trying to silence their opposition.

Oh that's a pile of happy horse shit, i love the way the right tries to come across as this timid little force for right and justice barely able to speak over the thunderous left. What about Fox news? Beck, O'Reilly and all those pricks?

The right gets more than enough time on the soapbox.

And I bet 'Ms Coulter' sits there waiting her turn doesn't she.

"Oh, um excuse me, if the left has q quite finished i was wondering if ah there was any room for me on the lectern?"

Jesus, Mary, Joseph and all the little unborn fetuses you almost made me laugh there Hif.

She could have still spoken. It was her people who decided to call off her talk.
A person does not have the 'right' to talk on a university campus.

Part of the brilliance of free speech is that it allows for a dialogue between citizens. Anne Coulter came to speak, enough people disagree with her point of view to protest and let her know that they don't want to hear her, nor do they want her to be at their school.
Like the high school students in Long Beach who demonstrated opposite a group of anti-gay marriage demonstrators who finally left, because they realized their efforts were useless.

just because there is a right of free speech, doesn't mean that you have a right to have people listen.

Um, the "protesters" were throwing tables and chairs and generally raising all kinds of hell. Of course her safety could not have been guaranteed.
She was invited to speak there and those who wanted to hear what she had to say were denied.
Protesting is one thing, violent behavior is quite another.

This is not even an isolated incident. David Horowitz was shouted down and had objects thrown at him many times during his speeches in the last few years and Coulter had to dodge a few pies as well, but when was the last time you heard of this happening to lib ?
Angela Davis ?
Farrakhan ?
Bernardine Dohrn ?
Bill Ayers ?
Rev Jim Wright ?
Ever hear of any of these pukes getting run off the stage by a bunch of angry vile conservatives ?
Did you hear any of the talk radio hosts decrying the emergence of Air America ?
It just doesn't happen.

You miss my point completely.
Yes the right gets plenty of air time, mostly because they have a big audience.
My original point was the embarrasment for the University of Ottawa proving there is no free speech there unless you are on the left.
And my second point was to show that the left is not tolerant of views other than their own and will silence the opposition if given the chance, while the right welcomes all other points of view.

There is nothing in the article about chairs and tables being thrown.

Maybe this is because most liberal public speakers don't have the tendency to spew hatred throughout their speeches.
If Coulter spoke thoughtfully and did not rely on insults and hyperbolic generalizations at every turn, she might get a different reception. She might also be able to inspire the kind of respectful debate that is the hallmark of a democratic society. However, her lack of respect for practically everything and everyone on the planet makes it quite hard for anyone who values thoughtful, insightful debate to want to pay any attention to her, let alone allow her to insult their classmates.

So, I assume you've never heard of Bill Maher or Al Franken or any of the folks I Listed in my post above ?
You speak of respectful debate at the same time you endorse those who would silence their opposition rather than let them speak.

  Horse shit to respectable debate.

I've not got a great deal of love for the likes of Maher either but a vast majority of the flawed liberal spokesperson output of America attacks and savages politicians and pundits.

Whenever i've caught Beck, O'Reilly or read anything about Coulter they're always attacking people as well as politicians- Muslims, blacks, the poor, these groups alone aren't the problem it's the people with money, you Bush's and Bin Ladens of the world who should, may must, suffer at the hands of political commentators, they have the most blood on their hands and should answer for it.

And here it happens again. The left only believes in free speech for themselves.

He could have held his ground. So what; he pussed out.

Isn't the act of protesting a form of free speech?

THE END.

NO, that kind of protesting is not free speech. Your freedoms end where they limit the freedoms of others.
This was a book signing and people who were there to get their books signed were denied.
The bookstore did not provide any security. How do you propose he could have "held his ground" ?

Rove has no business being allowed to roam free anywhere. If justice were done he'd be locked behind bars for life...preferably in one of those "non-existent" jails in remote China.

Actually, it said it was a theatre, not a bookstore. He could have called the police if he really wanted to.

Yeah, he could have, but he didn't want to. So what ?
In any case that has nothing to do with my argument that the left would prefer to silence their opposition rather than let them be heard.

So he must not have been too intent on actually talking about his book, otherwise he would have fought harder - hard enough to call the police.

Do you really think that the police would have helped ? How long do you think it would have taken them to respond in the first place ?
They certainly wouldn't have stayed to do any type of crowd control.

Once again how does this apply to my original statement ?
