  The Creedence version is very good, I also like the Johnny Rivers version quite a lot.

Ode to Billie Joe is most certainly about abortion as far as I'm concerned.

MacArthur Park is a nonsense song with a very good melody.

How about Incense and Peppermints by The Strawberry Alarm Clock ?

Great song.
I'm pretty sure that one is about scented smoke, candy and waking up on time.
