Prom (a pantoume)
Shannon Marie
29 Aug 2003
Flounces on a ball dress, Shimmering midnight hues, Netted as if to catch, Innocence she dreads to lose.
Shimmering midnight hues, Emerging from starry sky, Innocence she dreads to lose, She turns away to cry.
Emerging from starry sky, A fog so cold and moist. She turns away to cry, As his body, out they hoist.
A fog so cold and moist, She is chilled out on the street, As his body, out they hoist, His shoes gone from his feet.
She is chilled out on the street. Sirens scream and bright lights flash. His shoes gone from his feet, Lost somewhere in the crash.
Sirens scream and bright lights flash, As they lay him on the floor. Lost somewhere in the crash, The life she knew before.
PANTOUME- the second and fourth lines of one stanza become the first and third lines of the next.
