Oxymoron
Jessica Moussan
02 April 2002
I wrote to the lonely moon
Asking her if I could have you
She told me it was too soon
Towards time & fate I must be true
I bathed with the streaming waves
Remembering I gave love no thoroughfare
But the sea's opium no one saves
Love needs no permission, it enters everywhere
I danced under the dazzling stars
To run away from the fantasy of your taste
Forgetting how demanding are desireful hearts
And what a shame it is to let them waste
I killed the sunset
It reveals much more than it should
Your heart can I possibly get?
And will I if I could?
I escaped the wind's soul
I tried to run, I tried to hide
From your words, your eyes, your all
And was left with nothing else inside
I defied the name of Love and its glory
To neglect the radiance of your smile
But I have no right to end destiny's story
It has been trying to write all the while
I provoked Cupid's arrows
By trying to run away from them
However I realized that they are your shadows
The more you resist the stronger they'll hit you
And so by despising your idea
I am loving you
